3 hurt after elementary school bus slides off snowy road east of Goderich, Ont.
A school bus with seven elementary-aged students on board crashed Tuesday morning in Morris-Turnberry Township, east of Goderich, Ont., leaving three kids with injuries, according to police.
Ontario Provincial Police say the school bus “left the roadway due to poor weather conditions. ” конст. Craig Soldan said the bus, which was headed northbound on Clyde Line on its way to a school in Wingham, “collided with a private driveway edge. ”
The injuries resulting from the crash on Clyde Line are “non-life-threatening, ” but one student was airlifted to London with a possible fracture. The other two kids had “body soreness, ” Soldan said, and were taken to a local hospital by land ambulance.
The driver was also taken to hospital as a precaution due to a pre-existing injury, Soldan added.
A photo from the scene showed heavy snowfall completely covering the roadway with the bus off to the side and an emergency vehicle with a pylon on top of it to the left of the bus.
Clyde Line between Cardiff and Browntown roads was closed following the crash but expected to reopen “shortly, ” police said just after 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Initially, police reported there were 10 children on the bus at the time but Soldan said later in the afternoon that there were seven children on board.
